This enticing Pinot Noir is full of attitude, style and extravagance. Decadent blackberry and sweet dark cherry aromas are delivered with opulence, chalky tannins and complex oak spice.

Upon release it is deep ruby in colour. The nose is brimming with vibrant red fruit including plum, raspberry and cherry. There are also hints of spice, vanilla and chocolate, with some underlying savoury notes. The wine is mouth-filling, yet balanced with plush velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and a prolonged finish.

A complex dark and brooding wine with aromas and flavours of black fruits, violets and wild thyme.

Aromas of earthy plum, black cherry and liquorice the palate is rich and fleshy with ripe dark fruit and velvety tannins.

Vibrant floral notes, savoury brown spice and earthy notes on top of a core of red cherry that flows through the aroma. On the palate, supple and layered, bright red cherry notes introduce the wine.

Wild raspberry and red cherry characters dominate while soft sweet brown spice characters add in detail. Savoury red cherry notes lead the wine onto the palate; the wine flows with good texture. Fine elegant tannins rise out of the mid-palate and with wild raspberry notes drive the finish alongside fine acidity.

Produced from Central Otago fruit this is a wine with spicy red fruits on the nose. Medium bodied with red cherry and currant notes on the palate. Enjoy with all manner of duck dishes.

It follows in the footsteps of the Penfolds Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir, a wine first made from Adelaide Hills grapes in 1997. Reflecting an evolving style, regional definition and complexities of the many and varied Pinot Noir clones, Bin 23 Pinot Noir is an elegant, lighter bodied inclusion in the Penfolds Collection. The relationship between Penfolds and cool-climate regions continues to evolve with fruit sourcing shifting to the island of Tasmania, famed for its pristine environment and quality grapes. A lovely texture on the palate, with fine, delicate tannins and just ripe phenolics. Steely acidity drives the length providing succulent minerality. Cherry pips, sour cherry and cranberry are complemented by an Aperol-like bitterness on the finish. Very seductive, the second glass beckons. A versatile wine to pair with food, especially duck and other game dishes.
