Grown in Babich's flagship Irongate Vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels appellation of Hawke's Bay. From origins in 1985 as a secret experiment in barrel fermentation, this wine now represents the very best of their craft. The vines are pre-selected early in the season at pruning, and crop levels are closely monitored. The result is a limited release wine that is built to last, with spectacular varietal and regional flavours. Peach, cashew, lemon curd and vanilla with some light spice and mealy notes. Smooth and full bodied with flavours of fresh apple, peach and nectarine. A rich, powerful and generous wine.

The cool yet sunny environment of Craggy Range's Te Awanga Vineyard near Cape Kidnappers allows the development of intense Chardonnay flavours in the grapes, captured using traditional winemaking techniques seen in the Chablis region of France. The wine's colour transforms into a pale straw hue, instantly evoking the coastal essence of the vineyard. The bouquet carries hints of oyster shells, sea spray, and cashews, further reinforcing its seaside character. A sense of vibrancy and freshness on the palate is complemented by lively acidity that doesn't compromise flavour. Pinot gris for the Exiled comes from the St Helena clone of Pinot gris and is grown on both Waiheke and Ponui Islands. The wines are chilled to below zero to stop the fermentation before blending, the blend is held at low temperatures in the cellar until bottling to retain as much of the natural carbon dioxide as possible.

On the nose, expect vibrant aromas of bright citrus, freshly plucked apples and delicate white jasmine. On the palate, stone fruit notes are met with rich undertones of vanilla and clove, harmonized with warm spice and a touch of oak-derived toastiness. The interplay between the oak and fruit brings a balanced finish, with higher toasty notes lingering gracefully.

The grapes for Roaring Meg come from Mt Difficulty's Cromwell basin vineyards managed by their dedicated viticultural team. Roaring Meg Chardonnay features citrus floral notes, toasted brioche and a hint of cashew on the nose. Initially some classically rich Chardonnay fruit character on the palate, white stone fruit and toast notes which then picks up on the fresh and crisp finish. The wine finishes with refreshing grapefruit and lemon zest.

Classical in its fresh herb, lime cordial and passionfruit seed with a coastal element of weathered rock and salt spray. The palate is linear and textured finishing dry and salivating. Picking early has not only captured the classic herbal notes of the variety but has allowed for the vibrant acid profile to be balanced by the concentration from low yields, a hint of barrel weight and a touch of residual sugar retained from the fermentation.

On the palate, ripe pears with nectarine and orange peel; and creamy texture which enhances the rich fruit flavours. A spine of fine, balanced acidity leads to a long mineral-infused finish. Well-structured with both the richness and poise that typifies Akarua Pinot Gris.

The Grenache imparts a juicy, red-fruited core with flavors of ripe cherries and red currants. Syrah contributes a gentle spiciness, with notes of white pepper and a touch of lavender. Cinsault brings a delicate, silky texture, along with flavors of pink grapefruit and a hint of tart cranberry. A small but important addition of Viognier and Rolle complete the wine with some floral aromas of white blossoms and hints of apricots. A perfect balance of freshness, precision and spontaneity.

Golden straw in colour, this Bourbon barrel-aged Chardonnay has aromas of ripe, grilled peach, with hints of toasted marshmallow, vanilla bean custard, and baked spice pear. Rich, creamy, and concentrated flavours of grilled peach, lemon pie crust, graham cracker, vanilla bean, baking spices, and toasted oak lead to a balanced acidity and lingering finish. Aged a minimum of two months in American Oak Bourbon Barrels.

The Ned Pinot Gris - A bouquet of ginger spiced, nectarine and golden skin apples. Extended skin contact on a selection of the ripest fruit parcels is essential for promoting the signature salmon pink colour of The Ned Pinot Gris. Equally important is the positive effect this technique has on the wine's depth of flavour and overall mouth feel; balance and drinkability is achieved via a fresh thread of Waihopai acidity and the long, lightly drying tannin tail.
