Such vision has brought to life this complex single malt - a fitting tribute to our Master Blender's skill - having been shaped by seven separate Oak woods: first-fill ex-bourbon American White Oak, Vosges, Bertranges, Jupilles, Allier, Troncais & Limousin barrels.

The whisky has a powerful, peat-smoke aroma, and is described as being robustly full-bodied, well balanced, and smooth, with a slight sweetness on the palate. International Spirit ratings competitions have generally given Lagavulin's 16-year spirit extremely high scores.

Released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin distillery by John Johnston in 1816, this eight-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is big and smoky. A celebration of the people and craft that have made Lagavulin great over the last two centuries, its fragrant, tea-scented smoke alongside nose-drying, maritime aromas is unlocked with just a drop of water. Inspired by the visit of Alfred Barnard to the distillery in the 1880s when he tried an 'exceptionally fine' eight-year-old from the distillery, this is a fitting tribute for the milestone. With a light body that becomes pleasantly oily, the Lagavulin 8YO palate boasts a magnificently full-on Lagavulin taste that's somehow even bigger than you expect. Finished in European sherry oak casks for a particularly memorable single malt. This unique expression begins with the same time-honoured process that goes into Laphroaig 10 Year Old. After drawing rich character from ex-Bourbon barrels, the spirit then rests in casks previously filled with sweet Oloroso sherry. Each barrel is hand selected to add extra complexity to this quintessential single malt. This marriage of casks creates a rich full-bodied flavour with notes of Manuka honey, grilled bacon and maple syrup alongside the classic smoke, seaweed and hint of salt that Laphroaig is known and loved for.

Bigger barrels don't mean better flavour. The proof is Laphroaig Quarter Cask, inspired by the old tradition of transporting whisky on packhorses. Fortunately for said horses, it was stored in smaller quarter casks that carry flavour into your dram today. Their reduced size means the spirit has more contact with the wood, amplifying the natural flavours of whisky first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels. Hints of coconut, banana and vanilla complement our instantly recognisable heavy peat flavour, followed by a long, sweet and smoky finish. This quarter cask whisky is barrier filtered to retain all the character developed in the small but mighty barrels. Enjoy a soft and velvety single malt full of unexpected vivid notes, bigger flavour and aroma.

A moonlit glint of sleek steel flashes, a stunning presence in the sweet calmness of the night. Swiftly the katana, a sword crafted with complexity and precision, pierces the depths of darkness, revealing the bold mysteries of the midnight hour. Wielded with astonishing skill, it shines as a symbol of elegance and craftsmanship. Mortlach is famed for its sweet yet savoury taste, defiantly rare among Speyside malts. Moved by this contrasting spark of umami, their Malt Master drew inspiration from the flavours of Japan, and finished part of this stunning expression in ex-Kanosuke Japanese Whisky casks. To add balance to the sweetness, ex-Pinot Noir casks were used to finish the remaining part of the whisky, in a combination of the utmost precision. A striking golden gleam introduces sweet, alluring aromas of ripe melon and pear. On the palate, drily spiced savoury flavours cut through a scintillating sweetness. These contrasting notes entwine, to create a brilliant umami-rich depth of taste that lingers in the long, enticing and spicy finish. The result is a sweet-savoury intensity as deep and complex as the mark of the mighty katana.

Oban is one of Scotland's oldest and smallest distilleries. Founded in 1794, the West Highland port town of the same name has grown around the distillery. Oban is the one Single Malt Scotch Whisky in which the rich, complex flavours of the Highlands meet and mingle with the peaty, maritime character of the Islands. Flavours of rich fruits, smoky dryness, honeyed spice, and a whiff of sea salt distinguish this full-bodied 14 Year Old West Highland malt.

The DISTILLERS EDITION is a collection of master-craftsmanship. Each cask in the series is individually selected and perfectly matched to the character of each of the single malts refined here. The two-parted maturation process gives more depth and complexity, which is the idea behind the limited DISTILLERS EDITION: preserving the perfection of the single malts that have already been awarded for their outstanding flavours. The selected taste nuances are more strongly accentuated in a way that is not found in the regular bottlings, but with fully maintaining the original character of these fine single malts. To underline its sea-laced flavours, the Master Distiller of Oban has chosen Montilla Fino. This dry, delicate cask beautifully enhances the distinctively graceful style of Oban.
